Danny Cohen brings a rare integration of contemplative spiritual practice and wisdom traditions with trauma-informed therapeutics and practical tools for cultivating authentic human connection. His unique style opens people to radical change and transformation in everyday life and an embodied sense of new possibilities of being alive together. His work is heavily influenced by Marshall Rosenberg, the founder of NVC, by Yoram Mosenzon, his primary NVC teacher, and by contemporary mystic, Thomas Huebl.

the workshop | art of listening

How are your relationships? Do people relax in your presence, melt into your listening? Do you wish to know how to move from conflict into connection, even to see conflict as an opportunity? Do you want to go beyond surface dialogue and into the depths with people? to move from the level of opinions, thoughts, and judgments more into the aliveness of feelings and ‘cares at the core’?

For so many of us the way that we engage, communicate, and dialogue is a result of simply imbibing and replaying what we were exposed to and brought up with, which may not have included many examples of deep listening and Presence-based relating. We for the most part unconsciously run a relational operating system that has a lot of bugs in it, is programmed around ideas of right/wrong, good/bad, competition, power-over, shame, guilt, and blame, notions of deserve, judgment, winning/losing, either/or….and isn’t programmed to direct us toward meaningful connection, intimacy, heartfulness, soulfulness, compassion, deep understanding, tenderness, and care.

This workshop will dive into the heart and art of empathic listening, based in Marshall Rosenberg’s Nonviolent Communication (NVC) and with a focus on presence-based, attuned relationality, we’ll explore how to hear and connect with different facets and contours of people’s experience. We’ll learn and practice various skills and micro-competencies of this approach to responsive, engaged listening that can bring about that magical quality of connection where bodies and hearts can relax together.

The workshop will be delivered in English but the exercises between participants can unfold in there native language.

Having a some understanding of the principles of Non-Violent Communication is advisable but not an essential requirement.
